Turton Golf Club / Juniors BGA Team off to a flying start / Sun 5th May
We won our first Junior team match away against Dunscar G.C. 4-2 on 28th April and then drew our home match against Chorley G.C. 3-3 on Sunday 5th May. Unfortunately due to a break down in communications we only had a team of 5 so were one down to begin with, but a fantastic effort from the boys in winning 3 of the 5 matches gained us a draw.

Turton Golf Club / Men's BGA Team 5.5 - 2.5 home win vs. Bolton Old Links G.C. / Tues 30th April
Our BGA Team secured an excellent 5.5 - 2.5 home win in the opening match of the season against Bolton Old Links G.C.
With many of our Cat 1 players unavailable for selection Team Captain Billy Dempsey found that his 'B' team were up to the task with Shaun Bannister securing a superb point.

Turton Golf Club / Ladies Handicap Team lose 5-2 away at Burnley G.C. / Fri 26th April
Our Ladies Handicap Shield Team played away at Burnley G.C. and having beaten them 7 - 0 at Turton on the 12th April they knew that it was going to be tough with Burnley out for revenge. They battled their way around a very tough course with every extreme of weather. Howling wind, rain, hailstones and the occasional sunshine! However, it wasn't to be and they didn't get the win they wanted, but it was a very credible performance from the team which included Sarah Ormrod playing her first match for the team.

Turton Golf Club / E.L.G.A. Captains vs. Secretaries at Whalley G.C. / Tues 23rd April
Captain Clive Howarth and I attended our first E.L.G.A. Captains vs. Secretaries match on Tuesday which was hosted by Whalley G.C. The format was 4BBB matchplay and we were paired with Duxbury Park. In a closely contested game the secretaries ran out eventual winners by 2 & 1.

The overall match result was declared an honourable draw by the E.L.G.A. President as has been the tradition for the past 30 years, but the E.L.G.A. Assistant Secretary David Ellis did quietly announce that 'the secretaries had performed better on the day'
Only 15 of the 24 E.L.G.A. member clubs were represented, which was somewhat disappointing.
We would like to thank the Captain and staff of Whalley G.C. for their kind hospitality.

Turton Golf Club / Hole in One / Tues 23rd April
Our Chair of Membership, Steve Gallagher recorded his first ever Hole In One at the par 3 10th while playing in the Senior Stableford on Tuesday 23rd April.
